3. Mannion could be on his way out

Isn’t it crazy to look back at 2017 when some Rams fans believed McVay would be better off starting the year off with Sean Mannion since Goff still appeared to be a work in progress?

The only problem with this scenario is there was no actual way to know that Los Angeles would have been better off with Mannion at the time since he only had nine NFL completions to his name, although everything clearly worked out with Goff.

More from Ramblin' Fan

Just like a few other key players no longer under contract, the Rams face an interesting decision on their hands in regards to Mannion since despite how comfortable the team has felt about him backing up Goff, the quarterback hasn’t really played in a meaningful game.

However, this doesn’t necessarily mean that Los Angeles doesn’t feel confident in Mannion’s ability to fill in if needed, but also they may now have to deal with the difficulty of competing with other teams looking to sign him as their backup.

As the folks at The Oregonian pointed out a few weeks ago, the fact that Mannion has spent the last two years learning under McVay makes him an intriguing option for teams looking to add a backup quarterback to the roster.

If this happens to be the case, the Rams may not be willing to compete with other teams who are willing to offer Mannion more money, which means Los Angeles could be on the hunt for another quarterback anyway, whether it’s Keenum or someone else.
