The LA Rams coaches continue to find jobs on other NFL teams. The latest is the loss of strength and conditioning coach Ted Rath to the Philadelphia Eagles

The LA Rams coaching staff continues to deplete. The latest defection was that of strength and conditioning coach Ted Rath, whom the Philadelphia Eagles announced as signing on as their Director of Sports Performance.  This is just one more coach whose role must now be filled by the LA Rams head coach Sean McVay.

As we predicted in an article following the San Francisco 49ers rapid turnaround, one of the keys was to target improving player injuries by restaffing the strength and conditioning coaching director.  We pointed out that responsibility fell upon Ted Rath, and his assistants Fernando Noriega and Dustin Woods.

With this latest news, it seems that the LA Rams are doing exactly what we had expected, and allowed Rath to find a new job elsewhere.

That now leaves the Rams one more coaching position short of fully staffed. The Rams have hired Kevin O’ Connell as offensive coordinator and Brandon Staley as defensive coordinator.  At the same time, the Rams have now parted ways with defensive coordinator Wade Phillips, running back coach Skip Peete, special teams coordinator John Fassel, assistant special teams coach Matt Daniels, assistant offensive coordinator Jedd Fisch, and now strength and conditioning coach Ted Rath.

We had speculated on why the Rams seem to be last to refill their coaching staff openings. It seems most likely that the Rams will make one grand announcement over all their coaching staff hires, and with continued attrition simply have not gotten to the point where that one announcement is possible.

One thing is certain, the number of coaching changes on the Rams suggests significant changes are in store for the 2020 season.  So far, the Rams are making moves we have been anticipating.
