3 reasons why LA Rams should sign LB Nigel Bradham to short-term deal
By Bret Stuter
Reason III – The Rams need Bradham’s leadership on defense.
Too many veterans are on the way out on the Rams defense right now. While the Eagles are trying to get younger on defense, the Rams must make an effort to retain or sign some veterans to a defense that will soon be rather green at many positions.

Veterans at outside linebacker, interior linebacker, defensive end, and safety are likely gone in 2020. Right now, the Rams will likely promote young backups to fill the void on the starting lineup. That will fill the void at the position, but will not fill the void at leading the defense.
The interior linebacker role emulates that of the offensive quarterback in that their role is to picture all 22 men on the field of play and understand what each player is doing. They call the plays piped in from the sidelines, and give feedback or call the alternative defense based on what develops in front of him. Nigel Bradham is a seasoned veteran, who is quite comfortable at doing exactly that.
When the chips were down for the 5-7 Philadelphia Eagles in 2019, the team needed nothing short of a miracle finish to get to the NFL Playoffs. One of the players who stepped up in crunch time was Bradham. Late in the season, he recovered a fumble against the Washington Redskins to seal a close game victory, a must-win game at the time.
Bradham was without a doubt the Eagles’ best linebacker in 2019. And now he is waiting for a call from an NFL team to play somewhere is 2020. The Rams should be the first team to make that call. Not only do the Rams need Nigel Bradham in 2020. Nigel Bradham needs the Rams just as much.
