3 reasons LA Rams target OLB Kyler Fackrell in NFL Free Agency

II – He was OLB Clay Matthews’s productive teammate in Green Bay
If you have doubts, you need to look no further than what OLB Clay Matthews and OLB Kyler Fackrell did as the tandem with the Green Bay Packers in 2018. While they were not both starters with the team, Fackrell started seven games while Matthews started all 16 games, they were very complementary teammates.

The pair combined for 14 sacks, 85 tackles, and 19 tackles for losses. Frackrell played on 623 defensive snaps, and Matthews played on 71 percent of the defensive snaps. The Packers hired defensive coordinator Mike Pettine in January 2018. Matthews left that defense in 2019, hiring on with the Rams. Now it’s likely Fackrell follows the same path.
The Packers defensive coordinator stated openly that Fackrell’s “production isn’t there” over his 2019 performance. But to be fair, Pettine is of the “our strength is enough” philosophy, challenging offenses to beat what they put onto the field.
The Rams new defensive coordinator, Brandon Staley, making it a point to disguise defenses, emphasizing the rush from the edge. Clay Matthews production jumped in his first year with the Rams, adding 5.5 sacks in just one season. You could expect that Fackrell would return to double-digit sacks in 2020 by playing for the LA Rams.
