LA Rams’ SoFi Stadium progress could slow or stop in future

The LA Rams SoFi stadium is on track. But the current coronavirus threat could delay the stadium’s projected readiness for the 2020 NFL season
The fans of the LA Rams are eager for the opening of the 2020 NFL Season. Despite a tight budget for 2020, the Rams still have a core of extremely talented players. That group of talented players will find new coordinators on the team’s coaching staff. Not just new coordinators following a familiar track, but all with a mission to think outside the box, and introduce new football strategies to get the most impact from the existing roster. And most of all, fill the seats of the new SoFi stadium with thousands of cheering LA Rams’ fans.
So far so good. The LA Rams’ 2020 schedule is pretty favorable for a successful season. The challenges to the LA Rams offense, particularly the offensive line, should improve significantly in 2020. With a better line, the team should have a better time of running the ball, particularly as that is the focus of the team’s offense this season. A ball-control offense, with a solid defense, should place the Rams back on track to compete in the 2020 NFL playoffs.
So far so good, right? Well, so far, yes. SoFi stadium is the crowned jewel of the NFL, with an entirely new and thrilling experience awaiting any and all football spectators who attend either the LA Rams or LA Chargers home games. As long as everything stays on track.
But Mike Florio of Pro Football Talks raises a valid concern. If either the US federal government, or the state of California, impose restrictions similar to those of either Italy or Spain, the timetable of the SoFi Stadium project could be rapidly delayed, or outright halted. Those restrictions, to be clear, are government-imposed quarantines restricting travel outside the home to the purchase of food, gasoline, pharmacy, or medical attention. That means unless persons are required to support those basic functions, travel will not be permitted.
The one option for construction to continue would be to create temporary housing for workers at or near the construction site.
And as of right now, no restrictions are in effect, which means that SoFi Stadium remains on track to be open at the start of the 2020 NFL season. But as with many things right now, stay tuned.
