The LA Rams fans had nothing to cheer for in the first day of authorized negotiation – or legal tampering – at the onset of the NFL Free Agency market

It’s always darkest before the dawn. If you don’t understand what that means, you are not a fan of the LA Rams, or you simply did not follow us on Monday, March 16, 2020, on social media.  Out of 32 NFL teams who opened the NFL Free Agency legal tampering period, only one team failed to do… anything. That one team was the LA Rams.

The Rams may be light on available 2020 salary cap space, but the team had options.  The team had the option to use either the NFL Franchise or Transition tag on one of the veteran free agents. But general manager Les Snead failed to do so.

The LA Rams had the option to make qualifying tender offers, minimally qualified offers, or even pick up the team option on a contract yesterday. The Rams did not act on any of the restricted free agents yesterday either. Nada. Ne’er a peep.

Of course, the LA Rams can decide the fate of the restricted free agents today.  The team has until tomorrow, March 18, 2020, at 1:00 pm PT to submit all qualifying tender and minimum offers. With seven players who fall within the RFA, ERFA, or Nickell Robey-Coleman’s team-option year category, that is plenty to mull over. All the while, the Rams were unusually quiet for the first day of free agency.
