The LA Rams need an NFL veteran running back and should kick the tires of former Tampa Bay Free-Agent running back Peyton Barber

The LA Rams will need to start kicking over some rocks now. And kicking into the tires of some of the remaining veteran NFL free agents.  As of today, the LA Rams had 18 outgoing players from the 2019 53-man roster.  As of today, the team has filled just six of those slots.

Time to get busy!

One area of sudden and important need is the running back role.  No, two running backs won’t cut in through the course of an NFL season. No, Darrell Henderson is not a 350 carries per season type of running back. No, Malcolm Brown flashed potential even as recently as 2019, but he can’t carry the load either.

Right now, the Rams have just two running backs to carry them through training camp, OTAs, through the pre-season, and into the regular season.  Both Malcolm Brown and Darrell Henderson were dinged up in 2019.

The standard complement of running backs heading into spring OTAs and summer camps are anywhere from 5-7 running backs. The Rams have just three at the moment. So the team will add players, whether we feel the need to do so or not. (hint: they need to)

This is NOT the year for the Rams to abandon the running game in some awfully-misguided attempt to repeat 2019’s horrific pass-at-all-cost offense. They will select at least one in the 2020 NFL Draft. The only question is… where?
