LA Rams could move away from Brandin Cooks

Brandin Cooks seems to be the most logical player to be moved next. Cooks has the third-highest contract on the Rams. His contract makes up 8.24% of the Rams salary cap. Yet, he is not the leading Rams receiver by a wide margin.

In 2019, he caught 42 passes for 583 yards with two touchdowns. In 2018, he caught 80 passes for 1204 yards with five touchdowns. Why the huge drop off in production?

Cooks is scheduled to earn $12 million. His cap number will be $16.8 million. Is this too much investment in the Rams fourth receiver? Compare his contract and production with Kupp’s!

Cooks could be traded to Tampa Bay. He could be reunited with Tom Brady. They were teammates in New England for the 2017 season. Tampa has plenty of salary-cap space to absorb his contract.

Most of all, trading Cooks makes sense because they could draft a wide receiver. LA would rather pay a rookie contract than Cook’s deal. The Rams could move him to Miami for multiple selections. Miami could use a good receiver for its 2020 run towards the AFC East divisional crown.
