LA Rams 2020 NFL Draft fill all needs – Mock Draft 7.0
By Bret Stuter
Pick 103
The LA Rams fanbase has been on the edge of their seats in the draft so far, as all eyes continue to scan the NFL Draft for the successor to LA Rams elite running back, Todd Gurley. Gurley has been just one more rusher who has carried the mantle of Rams running back, a mantle which has meant excellence in the NFL over the years. You will almost feel the collective sigh of relief and the cheers of Rams fans everywhere when the team names running back Zack Moss from the Utah Utes as the next featured running back for the Rams.
The Rams do not rush to the running back position in this draft. And while Zack Moss is one of the most gifted running backs of the 2020 NFL Draft, the position itself is no longer heralded in the modern NFL offense as it had been in the past. But the Rams still run the ball first, and in doing so become the perfect landing spot for a rusher with the talents of Zack Moss.
Moss is a 5-foot-9 and 223-pound gifted runner who is a day-one starter for the Rams. Of course, a starter for the 2020 offense likely means a committee approach for the team, and Moss will deliver as well as anyone in that scenario. Moss will not be the fastest, the biggest, nor the most elusive running back on the football field. But he will likely be the most productive. He is a powerhouse, a rusher with legs that never stop moving, driving, pushing, and punishing.
Like many players who fall, he had an injured meniscus in 2018 which flags teams as a medical concern. But to the Rams, he has checked out fully healthy in 2019 and they need his entire skillset. He can run, block, receive downfield, pick up blitzes, and serve as a check-down outlet. The Rams worry who will take over for Todd Gurley in 2020. They have the answer with Moss.
