Select Russell Wilson over Jared Goff

Wilson is proof that the prototypical size of the quarterback is irrelevant. He stands 5-feet-11 weighing 211 pounds. Short quarterbacks aren’t supposed to be successful, right?
In 2019, he completed 394 passes for 4,110 yards with 31 touchdowns. Wilson had 528 fewer passing yards than Goff but had nine more touchdown passes. Let’s look closer at Wilson’s passing numbers.
Last season, Wilson averaged 7.7 yards per reception before yards after the catch. He averaged 9.4 yards per intended pass attempt. In other words, he threw deeper passes than Murray, Garoppolo, or Goff.
Wilson is the go-to guy, then Goff
Wilson seems to spread the ball among his many receivers. One quick look shows that his two wide receivers were targeted 100 times each. Several receivers averaged over 10 yards per reception.
Seattle certainly made a point to push a well-balanced offense for their team last season. Much like the 49ers, they have discovered a good rhythm on offense by getting the running game going early. Their offense remains balanced because they get the ball into their playmakers not a balance between run and pass plays. They did have a 1,000-yard rusher in Chris Carson.
In closing, Russell Wilson is most likely the first quarterback from the NFC West to be drafted followed by Goff. There’s a chance Murray has a great 2020 season but don’t count out Garoppolo. You might have to take which one is left, especially if you pick late in round one.
