Did the LA Rams pick the best QB in the 2016 NFL Draft?

Did the LA Rams select the best QB of that draft class of 2016
The LA Rams had a typical type of draft in 2016 that Rams fans have grown to expect. The Rams possessed just six draft picks. They had the first overall pick, two fourth-round and three sixth-round selections. Only two players remain on the Rams current roster – Jared Goff and Tyler Higbee.
The decision was decided long before the draft day to pick a quarterback with the first overall pick. After all, that is why the Rams traded up to number one. On April 14, 2016, the Rams sent their 2016 first-round pick, two second-round picks, a third-round pick, a 2017 first-round pick and a 2017 third-round pick to the Titans in exchange for the first overall pick of the 2016 NFL Draft. A huge price to pay? Perhaps, but not for a quarterback who can lead the team to the Super Bowl.
There was overwhelming pressure upon the team to find their next franchise quarterback, especially after both Nick Foles and Case Keenum failed to make their case as the franchise quarterback. Did they select the right quarterback? There were 15 quarterbacks taken in the 2016 draft. Six players were still on an NFL roster in 2019. Only four were starting quarterbacks for their team. Three are considered franchise level signal-callers.
Quarterback Jacoby Brissett was selected in the third round by New England. At that time, veteran quarterback Tom Brady was well-rooted as the face of the franchise in New England. Brissett plays now in Indianapolis.

Two quarterbacks that the LA Rams passed on to select Jared Goff
First, quarterback Carson Wentz was taken at the number two spot after Goff came off the board. He was chosen by the Philadelphia Eagles and is the prototypical quarterback. Wentz stands 6-feet-5 weighing 237 pounds.
In his career, he has completed 1311 passes for 14,191 yards with 97 touchdowns. He has led the Eagles on eight game-winning drives. While he has had success with the Eagles, he has yet to find success in the post-season. Remember, it was backup quarterback Nick Foles who led the Eagles to the Super Bowl win over New England in February 2018.
Second, quarterback Dak Prescott was drafted in round four by the Dallas Cowboys. Prescott is more of a mobile type of quarterback than the prototypical pocket passer. He stands 6-feet-2 weighing 238 pounds. Prescott has completed 1363 passes for 15,778 yards with 97 touchdowns. He has led the Cowboys on 14 game-winning drives. Prescott has not played in the Super Bowl.
In conclusion, Goff has completed 1166 passes for 14,219 yards with 87 touchdowns. He has led the Rams on seven game-winning drives. However, he did navigate the team successfully through the NFL playoffs, leading the Rams to play in Super Bowl LIII in February 2019.
Goff has a huge contract and Prescott will see his bank account grow in 2021. Wentz tries to stay healthy. You can’t argue that the LA Rams made the wrong pick but how long will they stick with him? Let’s see how things play out this season.
