Blake Bortles (Jaguars, Rams)

I know that this isn’t exactly what Rams fans want to hear, but Bortles would put the Rams back to where they were last year in the quarterback room. It wasn’t a bad place, it’s just not as desirable. However, it’s hard to find a quality quarterback on the free-agent market these days, even a back-up.

Bortles’s experience is invaluable when your starting quarterback goes down with an injury. He knows the Rams. He should come inexpensive. And he would arrive knowing that the Rams want to give Wolford a shot.  I’m not certain that the Rams offer the same confidence in running the team’s offense to UDFA Bryce Perkins.

Also. Will LA Rams face free agent S Earl Thomas in NFC West this year?. light

A warm quarterback for a long cold season

Just like DeShone Kizer and Cody Kessler before him, Bortles wouldn’t exactly be a teacher in the locker room, and if the Rams just want another hold-over quarterback to potentially step into a game if needed, Bortles might be their best option.

What he does bring is a familiarity with the team and the team with him. Will he be the first quarterback off the bench? No. But the Rams should want him or a player like him to put on the bench in the conditions this season is under.
