Bradham

The LA Rams have heard the name Nigel Bradham before.  We’d mentioned him before he was signed as an inside linebacker to the Denver Broncos practice squad.– There are teams right now that could use a linebacker who can cover tight ends. He is athletic enough to cover a tight end and set an edge.  And he is a solid veteran who has plenty of veteran savvy and NFL wisdom to impart within the very young inside linebacker room.

But we know this already. In fact, we featured Braham in an article eight months ago, and nothing has happened since then to change our minds. In fact, the experience so far at the inside linebacker position, and the terror felt when the news that Kiser would be unable to play due to a minor groin injury, has amplified the need to act now.

Time to bring in Bradham

Of course, the Rams have rationalized their shallow depth at the inside linebacker position with talks about the scheme, going sub-packages on defense with nickel and dimes, and a rotation of some linebackers who truly are not getting very good grades from third-party ranking groups like Pro Football Focus.

Bradham arriving gives the Rams some immediate insurance, more competition, and raises the bar for the entire defense. Imagine the type of play a veteran line Bradham can deliver behind All-Pro Aaron Donald? That would be the type of defense that would restore Bradham to the ranks of the very good to elite NFL linebackers.  And he’s currently on the Bronco’s practice squad.
