49ers WR Deebo Samuel called out LA Rams DT Aaron Donald after their last matchup. He woke up Donald for this one
The LA Rams lost to the San Francisco 49ers in San Francisco for their first matchup by a score of 24-16. In that game, the LA Rams offense never really got on track. Conversely, the Rams did not have an answer for 49ers’ star tight end George Kittle. Kittle’s seven receptions out of ten passes thrown his way resulted in 109 yards and a touchdown. He was nearly half of the 49ers passing offense for the game.
Most NFL teams know to focus on the next opponent after earning a hard-fought victory. But San Francisco 49ers WR Deebo Samuel broke that tradition by throwing shade at LA Rams All-Pro defensive lineman Aaron Donald. While that was every bit an amateur move on Samuel’s part, part two of the season occurs this week, in Los Angeles, at SoFi Stadium. And for the record, Aaron Donald knows who Deebo Samuel is this time.
Expect a completely different outcome
The Rams struggled on offense and struggled on defense early. By halftime, the score was 21-6, and the LA Rams needed a miraculous comeback. Unfortunately, they fell short. But the post-game controversy will prove to be a difference-maker.
Rams DT Aaron Donald says they're extra-motivated for this rematch with the Niners after their loss in Santa Clara: "There was a lot of little chatter after the game about certain things. They get to meet with us again, and we get to show them how we play."

Fortunes for the two teams have gone in opposite directions after that game.
The 49ers have since fallen from where the Rams left them at 3-3 to a disappointing 4-6. With a 1-2 division record and a 2-5 conference record, the 49ers must win every remaining game to have any hope of post-season. The LA Rams have a chance to dictate the course of the 49ers’ future in this game. I don’t expect the Rams to roll over and play dead again.
