In LA Rams News: The team added both OLB Okoronkwo and DB Reed to the 53-man roster

The LA Rams are tweaking their roster once more. As expected, the team has activated Ogbonnia Okoronkwo from injured reserve to the 53-man roster. And as an added bonus, the team has signed DB J.R. Reed to the 53-man roster off the team’s practice squad.  While not indicated in the roster update, the Rams OLB Jachai Polite has cleared waivers and has re-signed with the team’s practice squad.

The Rams have been most impacted by injuries on the defense, and the team must face a strong rushing attack of the Arizona Cardinals without some of their best run defenders: ILB Travin Howard (IR/out), ILB Micah Kister (IR/knee), OLB Terrell Lewis (out/knee), DB Terrell Burgess (IR/out), and DB Taylor Rapp (IR/knee).

Here comes the cavalry

The Rams know that the defense needs help. We pointed out that the recent release of OLB Jachai Polite emptied a second slot on the team’s 53-man roster.  Of course, there was a dim hope that the team would add some reinforcements to the inside linebacker position, which is down to just two healthy players on the Rams’ 3-4 base defense.

Unfortunately, the Rams don’t see eye to eye with our perspective on that issue. But I think we agree that the return of Obo could be a needed spark for the Rams this Sunday.

The Rams defense is playing very well right now.

But the Rams are leaning more and more upon that defensive play. So rejuvenating the defense makes great sense right now, particularly as the Rams must face another versatile and dangerous offense.
