LA Rams News: Team announces a flurry of Rams roster moves, highlighted by signing DB Dee Virgin to the practice squad

The LA Rams certainly proved to the fanbase that they were not prepared to defend the middle of the field in their latest loss. The Rams had lost inside linebackers Travin Howard and Micah Kiser. The team also had lost defensive backs Terrell Burgess and Taylor Rapp. And then last week, the Rams lost defensive back to the teams reserve/COVID-19 list.

But it seems as though the latest COVID-19 outbreak is not limited to just two players now. Last week, the Rams announced adding two active players, defensive back Nick Scott and offensive lineman Bobby Evans, to the teams reserve/COVID-19 list.  Today, the Rams website has announced that two more practice squad players and one active roster player have been added to the Reserve/COVID-19 list.

COVID-19 list transactions

Both defensive tackle Marquise Copeland and linebacker Derrick Moncrief have been moved from the practice squad to the Practice Squad/COVID-19 list.  The team also move recently promoted defensive back Juju Hughes to the Reserve/COVID-19 list.  The Rams now have two players on the Reserve/COVID-19 list, and two players on the Practice Squad/COVID-19 list.

Subsequently, the team reinstated outside lineback Jachai Polite to the practice squad. Furthermore, the team activated defensive back Nick Scott to the active roster from the Reserve COVID-19 list. Scott’s return will help the Rams defense, as he has been a steady contributor in recent weeks, in addition to his special teams’ play all season.

Dee Virgin signed

The Rams have also signed veteran defensive back Dee Virgin to the practice squad. Virgin is a 5-foot-9 205-pound defensive back first signed by the Houston Texans as an undrafted free agent in 2017.  So far in his NFL Career, Virgin has been primarily a special teams contributor.

He spent the 2017 season on the Texans practice squad. He was waived by the Texans, and quickly signed to the Detroit Lions where we would spend his next three seasons, both on their active roster and practice squad. In 2020, Virgin was frequently protected by the Lions. But the Lions waived Virgin on December 17, 2020, only to be signed by the Rams five days later.
