LA Rams injury update: Just how costly was the road victory over the Seattle Seahawks in round one of the NFL Playoffs?
Yes, the LA Rams won their first round of the NFL Playoffs by upsetting the favored Seattle Seahawks. While the start to the game was a close contest, the Rams began to pull away in the second half and ultimately led by a score of 30 – 13 until the Rams prevent-defense allowed the Seahawks to score a touchdown in the closing minutes.
It was a heartwarming victory for the Rams. A meaningful gutsy type of win that has been so lacking from the team all season. It was a game where the team seemed to face increasing adversity as the game progressed. And yet, the Rams were locked in and focused. This was a team on a mission, fueled by neglect and a constant stream of disdain.
Yes, these Rams are dangerous
This was a team that had lost the respect of most NFL analysts, and the trust of many fans. Before the game, some touted that starting quarterback Jared Goff, with a swollen and surgically-repaired thumb, should be gone next year. Yes, that’s right. The LA Rams had made the playoffs, and yet the pre-game chatter on social media included cutting the team’s starting quarterback. Such is the NFL of 2020.
Backup quarterback John Wolford was knocked out of the game early by a vicious blow to the head by the Seattle Seahawks safety/linebacker Jamal Adams. At the time, 9:20 had elapsed in the first quarter, and there was no score. The Rams sent quarterback Jared Goff onto the field, as the hearts and minds of the Rams team and fans clung to the hope that John Wolford would be okay. But he was not the only injured player on the day.
The Rams would face injuries to wide receiver Cooper Kupp, quarterback John Wolford, defensive lineman Aaron Donald, outside linebacker Leonard Floyd, running back Cam Akers, and offensive left guard David Edwards. Now, the morning after, it’s time to wade through the status of players to determine just how costly the Rams playoff victory truly was
