Tossing the blame game aside, here are 5 ways that the LA Rams strategy failed them in 2020

The LA Rams did many things correctly throughout 2020. But the key to improving a team is to celebrate the victories, and correct the mistakes. The victories were pretty obvious on the defensive side of the ball. After all, when the team boasts the top-ranked defense, you know there is plenty to celebrate.

But there were many other positives about the team. The defense played lights-out under rookie defensive coordinator Brandon Staley.

The Rams losing Dante Fowler and Cory Littleton from their linebacking corps last season left a gaping hole they never quite adequately plugged, and while they drafted Terrell Lewis, who proved to be invaluable, they just never quite made up for the loss of those both players. Fortunately, the stellar play of the defensive line was good enough to cover up some of the holes and camouflage this weakness. . . but linebacker play remains just that, a weakness, a vulnerability for the Rams  to address in this draft.

The Rams offensive line rebounded from a miserable injury-riddled 2019 season to a respectable 2020 season.  While some remain convinced that the LA Rams offensive line remains the problem, they earned the third-highest ranked offensive line form Pro Football Focus.

Finally, the Rams were rather adept at adding key starter to the team on both offense and defense from the 2020 NFL Draft.  Safety Jordan Fuller and running back Cam Akers jump off the page.

Overall, the Rams strengthened their offense with the additions of Akers and Fuller through the draft last year but why did they wait until their very last pick to add an offensive lineman in G Tremayne Anchrum (who saw only 3 snaps)?
