The LA Rams have hired their new defensive coordinator with the January 21, 2021 announcement of adding Raheem Morris to the coaching staff. And now, the team must work towards filling out the vacancies on the coaching staff. Of course, that means filling the huge vacancy at the linebackers coach position most recently held by Assistant head coach/Linebackers Coach Joe Barry.

Barry followed Brandon Staley to join the LA Chargers coaching staff. That was a particularly difficult loss from the coaching staff because the LA Rams depth at both inside and outside linebackers has waned considerably due to the projected loss of OLB Leonard Floyd, OLB Samson Ebukam, OLB/DE Derek Rivers, and LB Travin Howard.

The team will welcome back ILB Micah Kiser, Troy Reeder, and Kenny Young in 2021. The team will also have the welcome mat out for OLB Terrell Lewis, Ogbonnia Okoronkwo, and Justin Hollins. Four departures, six remaining. Yes, the LA Rams have some work to do.

And so, they need to get after it, right?  After all, the groundwork of restocking the defense is done now, before the NFL Free Agency market opens and before the 2021 NFL Draft prospects showcase their wares at their collegiate Pro Days.  Without a 2021 NFL Scouting Combine taking place, the Rams will be unable to comparison shop.

That’s a pretty hard hit to the linebacker position, a position that was already a tad shallow, to begin with. So the Rams will need to get crackin’ on restoring a brain trust to restock their roster, so who is available?
