Wide receiver

The LA Rams had waited patiently for wide receiver Josh Reynolds to prove to be a deep threat that the team so desperately needed.  While he made a significant leap forward in his fourth and what may be his final year with the LA Rams, he never developed into that dangerous receiver who is capable of knocking the lid off the backside of the defense.

Reynolds was a marginal weapon throughout his first three NFL seasons. He was dangerous, but his inability to catch more than 50 percent of the passes thrown his way stalled as many offensive drives as he extended. That limited the number of passes thrown his way, and that limited his value.

That all changed in 2020 when the Rams pushed Reynolds with the threat of playing rookie WR Van Jefferson. Not only did Reynolds respond with better production, but he was on the field more than any other time of his career.  Since he was the Rams third wide receiver, his usage seemed to be the opposite direction of pre-season promises to feature two tight-end formations in 2020.

In 802 offensive snaps, Reynolds caught 52 of the 81 passes thrown his way. That allowed him to record two touchdowns, 618 yards, and a 64.2 percent completion.  Both yards and completion were career highs. Standing 6-foot-3 and weighing 198 pounds, Reynolds is an ideal player to sign on with a veteran passer. He has the speed, he has masted catching the ball, and now he simply needs the opportunity to put up his first 1000 yard receiving season.

No. He won’t do so with the LA Rams. They have other talented young players in the queue.
