With the 101st pick of the 2021 NFL Draft, the  Los Angeles Rams select linebacker Jabril Cox from Louisianna State University. Cox is the ideal prospect for the Rams here, standing 6-foot-3 and weighing in at 233 pounds. He is a long and rangy type of linebacker who creates a lot of problems for quarterbacks by occupying passing lanes with a tall body and long reach.

He transferred to LSU to get one year of SEC football under his belt before declaring for the 2021 NFL Draft, and he made the most of it. In ten games, he racked up 58 tackles, 6.5 as tackles for losses. He also sacked the quarterback once. He also added a fumble recovery to his production.

Where he truly shines is in pass coverage. In ten games, he recorded three interceptions, a remarkable feat for an inside linebacker. Not only was he adept at picking off the pass, but he was incredible at bringing it back the other way. He put up 64 yards and a touchdown in his three picks.

Cox is not perfect. A number of draft profiles on the young man question his ability to defend the run at the NFL level. At a height of 6-foot-3, he could probably bulk up a bit without hurting his speed and agility. Perhaps a playing weight of from 240-245 pounds would be ideal at the pro level.
