The opening of the NFL Free Agency market must be close, as LA Rams players are appearing in the headlines of NFL News more and more frequently. We’ve seen the advent of Rams rumors about right tackle Rob Havenstein on the trading block, soon followed by reports that defensive lineman Michael Brockers could be on the trading block as well, even to the point that the Rams were getting calls about the availability of WR Robert Woods.

Well, even though the Robert Woods trade is highly unlikely, what if an NFL team gave an offer that the LA Rams simply could not refuse? We know that the Buffalo Bills sent first, fifth and sixth rounds of the 2020 NFL draft and a fourth-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft to acquire Minnesota Vikings wide receiver, Stefon Diggs. What if the Rams got a similar offer?

So that brings us all up to date on the latest and greatest Rams rumors and storylines? Well almost. We were saying that the NFL Free Agency market for 2021 opens on March 17, 2021. When that happens, some players will become very rich very quickly. Other players will hunker down as multiple teams compete in a bidding war for their services. And an even greater number of players will be passed over initially, whether they are holding out for the right fit or offer.

Per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, some Rams could get paid handsomely this year include safety John Johnson III and tight end Gerald Everett. And that aligns with our expectations for both players as well.

If the LA Rams do not have re-signing players in the 2021 NFL season budget, you can bet that they are hoping for those same players to sign mega-deals elsewhere. Why? Well, the NFL has a process of giving teams that lose highly valued veterans to free agency a means of recouping some of that loss of talent in the following year via compensatory draft picks. If the current projection holds true, the Rams could be awarded as high as a third-round pick for John Johnson III, and a fifth-round pick for tight end Gerald Everett.

And of course, the LA Rams are due their second third-round compensatory pick for the hiring of Brad Holmes as general manager of the Detroit Lions. With the cap for comp picks set at no more than four per team, the LA Rams could run over their annual allotment if OLB Leonard Floyd or WR Josh Reynolds both attract significant offers in free agency.

Hot. What if LA Rams get a 'Diggs-like offer' for WR Robert Woods?. light

For now, a growing list of experts believes that some LA Rams players may cash in their time in LA for large contracts to play elsewhere.
