Kansas City Chiefs left tackle Eric Fisher was one of the trio of formidable offensive tackles drafted in 2013 along with Philadelphia Eagles’ Land Johnson and  Jacksonville Jaguars’ Luke Joeckel.  He has been a mainstay of the Chief’s offense, and has helped propel the team into the NFL Championship talk over the past three years.

Veteran Presence: A former first-round pick(1st overall) of the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2013 Draft, Eric Fisher has been one of the most consistent left tackles in the entire league. Fisher has been a major part of the success of the Chiefs offense the past few seasons. For the past eight seasons, Fisher’s availability has been his best asset which has made him one of the best. Durability: Eric Fisher has only missed four games in eight seasons, which has been quite an accomplishment for the Chiefs. The team has heavily relied on him to protect the blindsides of Alex Smith and Patrick Mahomes, which he has done flawlessly. In doing so, he has helped the Chiefs go to the AFC Championship Game the last three consecutive years.

Fisher’s 2020 season was cut short during the postseason as he tore his Achilles, however once healthy, can contribute at the highest level. Fisher is also only 33 years old, so a little youth added to the line would help drastically. Fisher, when healthy, will be one of the hottest players on the open market, and the Rams can buy him cheap.

The Rams need to get under the NFL’s 2021 salary cap of $182.5 Million and as of today, they are dead last in cap space with $33.9 Million OVER the cap according to Overthecap.com. The team has some major house cleaning to do to get some salary-cap relief and time is not on their side. One thing is for sure, the offensive line is the focal point in free agency this offseason, and left tackle is the priority going forward.
