5 keys to the LA Rams May 12 schedule release

The LA Rams 17 game schedule will be released on May 12, 2021, at 5:00 pm PT. While that is certainly several weeks away, we will be quite busy experiencing all of the thrills and disappointments that come with the annual NFL Draft.  In fact, the Rams will have the NFL Draft, and then the mad dash signing scramble as the team races to sign new players to round out the 90-man roster.

To be honest, that will keep the team quite busy. But what about after that? Well, we’re always happy to peek around the corner, point out the next hurdle, and try to list the factors that make that next event relevant and meaningful for the LA Rams’ success this year.

Right now, all that is known about the 2021 LA Rams schedule is that the Rams have nine road games:
Seattle Seahawks, San Francisco 49ers, Arizona Cardinals, New York Giants, Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings, Houston Texans, Indianapolis Colts, and Baltimore Ravens
and eight home games:
Seattle Seahawks, San Francisco 49ers, Arizona Cardinals, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Detroit Lions, Chicago Bears, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Tennessee Titans
and as we reported before, there are no patsies on the schedule this year.

One of the keys to improving is to have an honest assessment of the challenges from the previous year. And to be perfectly honest, the Rams had to overcome a number of challenges in the 2020 NFL season.  So let’s list them out here now. And then, we can break down the 2021 NFL schedule when it becomes available and see if the same challenges face the team this year.

The Rams had three challenges in their 2020 schedule. First and foremost, the Rams faced their toughest opponents on the road last year. Secondly, the Rams had far too many trips to the East Coast and even had two consecutive trips to the East coast early in the year. And finally, the Rams faced their easiest competition early in the season, but then had to fight through their toughest competition to end their season. So let’s break it all down into bite-sized chunks for the 2021 NFL schedule.
