NFL Draft 2021: Top 5 LA Rams prospects from MAC
By Jay Blucher
Offensive tackle
The next prospect from MAC on our journey to the 2021 NFL Draft is none other than the offensive tackle from Western Michigan named Jaylon Moore (6.23-grade per NFL.com)
Even though the LA Rams have not shown deep interest in the offensive line in their pre-draft meetings to date, the team is certainly eyeing up any talented players who may fall to them, and Moore is one such player.
This 6-foot-4, 311-pound tackle played 37 collegiate games so he’s an experienced blocker, particularly in a zone-blocking scheme. (The Rams used all three zone blocking schemes – inside, mid-zone, and outside zone under previous offensive line coach Aaron Kromer, but it is as-yet-unknown what their new o-line coach Kevin Carberry will deploy.)
Moore, like Minerz, also caught the eye of scouts due to his impressive performance at this year’s Senior Bowl. Those same eyeballs say he’s a bit undersized to be an NFL tackle, pass protects well, but will likely never be a dominant run blocker. He’s a raw prospect in most scouts’ reviews of his game tape.
Perhaps the Rams can coach him up, as they have a good track record of bringing along developmental players such as Moore. The jury on Moore is all over the board. Some see him as high as a mid-day-two prospect.
Others see him mid to late day three. The Rams will likely not plan for him unless it’s on day three.
