NFL Draft 2021: Top 10 LA Rams prospects from the Big-12
By Bret Stuter
Defensive back
Another intriguing prospect to consider fr the Rams’ secondary is the cornerback out of Oklahoma named Tre Brown (5.91-grade per NFL.com). While the consensus for the class of 2021 is that the cornerback class is indeed talented and deep, there is no agreement whatsoever as to who in this draft class is the talent and who is the depth.
In many analysts’ draft boards, Tre Brown is the better prospect. Standing 5-foot-10 and weighing 185-pounds, Brown is frequently described as a powerful defensive back who can stay with receivers step for step. He is also touted for his kamikaze mindset on special teams, where is flies downfield to make the initial tackle to stop the receiver immediately after the football arrives.
On defense, he is a nickel, slot, outside cornerback candidate all rolled up into one. Can we say it all together? The Rams love versatile players, and Tre Brown is all that and then some. And we know that the team needs multiple options, not just for 2021, but to develop into a strong option for the 2022 season as well.
He is a strong special teams player, as his speed makes him an ideal player to return kickoffs and punts. He can fly down the field in coverage. And he adds coverage options for the team in the secondary. He may not be the best cornerback in the draft. But he may be a solid fit for what the Rams are looking for at that position
