Predictions?

Just for fun, my first-round mock draft looks like this.  For the record, I am notoriously bad at this. But that is okay. The expectation is that many mock drafts won’t closely resemble how the draft plays out.

The pre-draft mood is as exciting and electrifying as anticipated. This is not just the 2021 NFL Draft, but the one-year anniversary of the live 2020 NFL Draft that-never-was. The fanfare and pageantry never skipped a beat. This is an event that is clearly two years coming. The tone of the evening has been months in the making.

But amidst the drama of the pre-draft, we learned that Aaron Rodgers is completely fed up with the Green Bay Packers, The New England Patriots were rumored to be working with the agent of Jimmy Garoppolo to restructure a deal to fit under their salary cap, but that rumor was denied by multiple reputable sources.  Even as they stand on QB Jimmy Garoppolo, and are rumored to be aiming at a quarterback with the third pick of the 2021 NFL Draft, the San Francisco 49ers are rumored to be monitoring both Deshaun Watson and Aaron Rodgers situations very closely.

Well, that won’t make my first-round mock any prettier or more accurate, but it will mean the others will be less accurate.

Each player deserves to be roundly applauded for making it this far in their careers. Don’t be that person who turns an achievement in their lives into regret on your own. Whoever is chosen, they have earned the right to celebrate with their family and their new teammates. Time will tell the wisdom of the selection. Good luck to all of the NFL rookies today, and to all of the college football hopefuls.

The first round of the draft was less chaotic than expected, Only three trades on the night. The LA Rams stare into the second round with plenty of solid defensive prospects, and no offensive centers off the board yet.
