Now that the 2021 NFL Draft and the undrafted free agents (well most of them) are all identified and preparing to sign contracts to play for the LA Rams, perhaps it is a good time, albeit a very early and extremely premature time, to consider just what the professional sharks, the professional oddsmakers think are this Rams’ team’s chances to hoist the Lombardi trophy in the upcoming Super Bowl LVI.

After all, Super Bowl LVI, the 56th matchup and the 52nd of the so-called “modern-era” National Football League, will take place at none other than the Rams’ home field of SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. The game is scheduled to be played on February 13, 2022.

Last year the Tom Brady-led Tampa Bay Buccaneers had the home-field advantage for the Super Bowl, as it was played at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida. And look how that game turned out for them? Perhaps there is truly a home-field advantage? We can dream it is so. Could lightning strike twice and this time, it turns out to be the Matthew Stafford-led Rams who get to enjoy not having to get on an airplane for the contest, as well as the home cooking?

Roster ready (almost)

Will the Rams recently completed draft additions be enough to take this team over the top? Will the addition of all the new receivers and an offense that runs more five-wide sets that are designed to be more explosive pan out for this team? Will Stafford be the guy standing at the podium when the confetti rains down all around?

Now, post-draft, there’s been a bit of a shuffle in what the oddsmakers’ predict, with some teams getting a bump in their chances (San Francisco 49ers) and others getting downgraded to a bit dimmer view of their chances (Green Bay, perhaps due to the Aaron Rogers drama that’s unfolding). The odds are (obviously) constantly changing and will continue to fluctuate as the regular season grinds on.

To keep things simple and straightforward, the odds below determine the payouts of a winning wager. For example, let’s assume that the odds of a Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl LVI win is set at +450, then if you bet a corresponding wager of $100 on the prevailing favorite Kansas City Chiefs to win the Super Bowl, then you walk away with $450.)

The reigning Super Bowl champs, despite bringing their entire team back for another run at the Lombardi, are considered the second most likely team to win it all. (Bet $100, to win $624)

Of most interest to LA Rams fans is that the team is all alone as the fourth-place favorite to win this year’s Super Bowl. After the Super Bowl LV opponents Chiefs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Buffalo are in third place followed closely by the Los Angeles Rams.

The longest of the longshots happens to be the Houston Texans, who are considered to have the least chance of competing for the Lombardi at SoFi Stadium in February 2022.
