Tough finish

Facing the toughest opponents to finish the season is never a good thing. At best, teams want to finish less competitive teams to close out the season to gain positive momentum heading into the post-season. At worst, teams do not want to risk injuries to key players just as the team is about to enter the playoffs.  Case in point? All-Pro defensive lineman Aaron Donald’s injury against the Seattle Seahawks severely limited his performance against the Green Bay Packers the following week.

Speaking of the Packers, NFL rumors suggest that the Rams will be traveling to Lambeau Field in the bitter cold month of November to face the Packers once more.

That places one of the Rams’ toughest opponents in the last half of the season, and in some of the worst weather conditions of the football season. And yes, that is just one opponent.

But it’s not just the weather that can create nightmarish conditions for the road team any longer. Even with the availability of vaccines, the documented duration of how long the COVID-19 vaccine lasts is said to be six months.  That means that by the time the LA Rams are due to travel, many players will be due for new vaccinations. It seems that the coronavirus pandemic is the normal part of doing business from now on.

Of course, what if the LA Rams close out the season with 4 consecutive NFC West division games? That type of grueling scheduling could propel the Rams into a great position to succeed in the NFL Playoffs if they sweep the competition. Or if it occurs as the Rams battle injuries, it could send everyone home early.
