You may recall that the LA Rams defensive tackle Michael Brockers was asked to comment on the status of the LA Rams quarterback status after the LA Rams traded former quarterback Jared Goff to the Detroit Lions. Brockers did not hesitate to speak up and claimed that Stafford was a ‘level up’ for the LA Rams.

Days later, the LA Rams traded Michael Brockers to the Detroit Lions for next to nothing.  In fact, nothing might have had more value, as the Rams netted just one 2023 seventh-round pick for the effort. While it cleared salary cap space, it shorted the Rams one defensive lineman, and that prompted the team to load up on the position with two rookie selections from the 2021 NFL Draft.

By most accounts, that should have been the end of it. But you know by now that if we put a former player up, there’s a new twist to the story. And in this case, there certainly is.  You see, the folks from TMZ Sports had the opportunity to follow up with Detroit Lions defensive lineman Michael Brockers and prod him over predictions for the Lions’ chances when they meet the LA Rams in Los Angeles on October 24, 2021, at 1:05 pm PT.

Video number one: Michael Brockers under contract with the LA Rams:

Video number two: Michael Brockers under contract with the Detroit Lions:

The TMZ video plays the first interview with Brockers still with the Rams and states that the LA Rams are a level up with Stafford on the roster.  The second interview is with Michael Brockers as a member of the Detroit Lions, and he is prodded into claiming that he has a W circled on his calendar when the Lions travel to face the Rams on October 24.

There is no need to be upset at the claim. Brockers was painted into a corner to back up his teammate and quarterback Jared Goff.  But he did add a bit of a flourish in the TMZ article when asked about whether he’ll get a sack on quarterback Matthew Stafford:

"“I got to get at least one,” Brockers told us. “I’m trying to sack every quarterback, but I got to get that one (Matthew Stafford).” – Michael Brockers per TMZ.com"

Now the chit sheet has checkmarks on both sides, and that was what Brockers intended to do. Of course, he may have added a bit of theatrics to the claims, but even he added that in explaining his relationship with Jared Goff after his last statements. Football players know that part of the call of their role is to aid in the marketing for the good of the game. A TMZ microphone held in front of an NFL player will get that marketing pitch, not what that player truly believes.

light. Trending. LA Rams: Rookie Ben Skowronek may not be long shot to make roster

But it’s great bulletin board fodder. And it does illustrate that the LA Rams should prepare for the best from Michael Brockers and Jared Goff on October 24. While they may or may not have circled that date and written in a W, you can bet both have starred that one.
