We watched intensely as the LA Rams focused upon athletic and ST savant prospects in the 2021 NFL Draft. We saw the team select WR/KR/PR Tutu Atwell with their sole second-round pick from the 2021 NFL Draft. We observed the team add WR/TE Jacob Harris, RB Jake Funk, WR Ben Skowronek, and even sign RB Otis Anderson Jr., all of whom had stellar scholastic reputations at excelling on special teams.
That didn’t offer positive indications for the future of LA Rams special teams specialist Nsimba Webster. And it was those turn of events that prompted us to read the tea leaves as we so often do around here. Those leaves were quite clear in their prognostication. Nsimba Webster would be a surprise cut. Here we are, entering the latter part of July 2021, and that fortune-telling has come to pass:
Transaction: Rams waived Nsimba Webster.

So now the question is, who will take over? Look for rookie Tutu Atwell to field punts, at least per his account
Tutu Atwell on preparing to be the Rams' punt returner: "It’ll actually help me. It would be a great spot for the team. I’m just excited & ready to take over the job & do what I have to do ... It'll be a nice (demonstration of my) skill set to get back there & do what I do best."

That makes sense.
The Rams spent a second-pick on a player, and that almost compels the Rams to get the guy on the field instantly. A role on special teams is an easy on-ramp to infuse Atwell’s speed and elusiveness into an impactful role for the rookie.
