The LA Rams are in no position to look past any opponent right now. After losing three consecutive games, the team’s first priority is to win however it can. That is the goal for the team this week, to knuckle down and play smart, fundamentally-sound football.  Flawless football, if such a thing exists for the team any longer.

In Week 13, and the LA Rams are no closer to their eighth victory than they were at the start of November 2021. But one of the worst mistakes possible that this team could make right now is to take this game lightly. Just ask the Miami Dolphins or the Buffalo Bills if the Jacksonville Jaguars should be treated too lightly, and they will tell you otherwise. Against the Dolphins, rookie QB Trevor Lawrence flashed NFL mastery as he connected with a former Detroit Lions receiver Marvin Jones for 100 yards and a touchdown.

Against the Bills, it was the Jaguars’ defense that smothered Buffalo, holding them to just two field goals for the day. The home field offers little advantage this season, as the team is only 3-2 at SoFi Stadium so far this season. And the team lost to the winless New York Jets around this time a year ago.

To win this one, the Rams will need to do more than stumble out of the gates, fall behind, and play catch up. The team will need to run effectively, move the chains, put points on the scoreboard, and then stop the Jaguars from doing any of those when they have the football.

LA Rams Injury Report vs Jacksonville Jaguars Week 13

Rams

  • RB Buddy Howell (Thigh) – out
  • WR Odell Beckham Jr (Hip) – questionable
  • RB Darrell Henderson Jr. (Thigh) – questionable
  • DB David Long Jr. (Illness) – questionable
  • OT Rob Havenstein (Foot) – questionable
  • WR Ben Skowronek (Back) – questionable

Jaguars

  • CB Shaquill Griffin (Concussion) – out
  • RB James Robinson (Heel/Knee) – questionable

The team will be without special teamer RB Buddy Howell, and the outlook for Darrell Henderson is somewhat bleak. Expect the Rams to go with a lot of running back Sony Michel for Week 13.

The team has activated WR Brandon Powell and RB Mekhi Sargent from the practice squad for this game. Powell is a special teams specialist and could see return duties on punts or kickoffs for the Rams in Week 13. Sargent is an ideal backup for Henderson. He stands 5-foot-8, weighs 208-pounds, and had such an outstanding preseason for the Tennessee Titans that he earned a spot on their roster to start the season.

Recommended Bets:

There is nothing more frightening than trying to gauge the LA Rams’ chances as a huge favorite at home. The team simply doesn’t seem to respond well as the favorite, as if the intensity of preparing for the upcoming football game dissipates simply because opinions that have weighed in believe the Rams will succeed.

Even as the Jaguars’ aim is more likely the 2022 NFL Draft at this point, the team has every reason to play hard. This is a young team, and knocking off accomplished teams now proves that they are that much closer to competing for their own playoff berth in the near future.

Rams Next Game and Schedule

The team is trying to halt a three-game losing streak. Even if the team succeeds, the month of December is proving to be quite the challenge as well.

Week 14: @ Arizona (9-2)
Week 15: vs. Seattle (3-8)
Week 16: @ Minnesota (5-6)
Week 17: @ Baltimore (8-3)

The LA Rams have lost successive games to the Tennessee Titans, the San Francisco 49ers, and the Green Bay Packers. While the Jacksonville Jaguars may not seem to be in that same tier, they are a dangerous foe this week. The Rams need a win. But they will have to earn it against a young but improving Jaguars team.
