Playoff performance

Now, what about the post-season? Well, that’s where history and Cooper Kupp become a bit foggy. You see, over his career, Kupp has been a no-show in four of six playoff games that the LA Rams have played. And it’s that history of not being available in the biggest games of the team’s history that had concerned more than a few fans before this season started.

Kupp has not exactly taken over in the two playoff games he’s played in. Of course, he played one of those contests in his rookie season against the Atlanta Falcons. The other was in 2020 against the Seattle Seahawks when he was nursing a knee injury. Over the course of those two games, Kupp caught 12 of 22 passes thrown his way for 147 yards and one touchdown. Not bad, but not exactly good.

But this is not a rookie Kupp right now, nor is this Cooper Kupp nursing an injury. This is the Triple Crown-winning version of Cooper Kupp, a player who has been running rings around NFL defensive backs this year.  So what can we tell you about his upcoming Wildcard Round of the NFL Playoffs?

Deal the Cards

Well, we know that he will face off against the Arizona Cardinals, the only team to hold him under 90 yards this season. But in the two games that he’s played against them, Kupp has caught 18 of 28 passes for 187 yards and one touchdown.  Of course, Kupp was not alone in that one. Odell Beckham Jr. contributed six catches of seven targets for 77 yards and a touchdown in the only time he played the Cardinals. In his two games against the Cardinals, Van Jefferson has caught eight of nine passes for 148 yards and two touchdowns.

The LA Rams are preparing this week to face the Arizona Cardinals on Monday Night Football on January 17, 2021, at 5:15 pm PT/8:15 pm ET at SoFi Stadium. If the Rams win, they will likely travel the following week to face the Green Bay Packers (although that will be subject to which teams advance).

Cooper Kupp will be counted upon to deliver once more. Let’s hope that he remains healthy and productive. The offense needs him to show up and show off for the next four games.
