Los Angeles is rallying around the LA Rams
By Bret Stuter
The LA Rams are one of the hottest NFL merchandise right now. And would you believe that its hottest sales are centered in the City of Los Angeles? Yes, that’s right. The same Los Angeles that allowed SoFi Stadium to load up with San Francisco 49ers fans in Week 18? The same Los Angeles that allowed the NFC Championship Game to be played with a crowd with about a 50/50 mix of LA Rams and 49ers fans?
Yes, that’s right.
When the LA Rams left the city of Los Angeles, California in 1995 to relocate to the city of Saint Louis, Missouri, the team abandoned a lot of loyal fans who were left wondering why. After all, the team relocated to LA in 1946, and the team enjoyed a long and storied history on the West Coast. When the team returned to the city in 2016 after a 21-year hiatus, the hope was to win back all the LA Rams fans from before and convert a new generation of fans over to the prodigal son of the NFL.
There is something special about the LA Rams this year
But until now, the residents of the city did not have compelling reasons to go as “All In” on the Rams as the Rams organization had in committing future draft picks to acquire talented players for the 2021 NFL Season. But there is a new feel about this team right now. An incomprehensible aura of magic, a place where dreams are made.
The chance for the LA Rams to finally bring a Lombardi Trophy has given renewed life to the fans of this proud city. Just like the Dr. Seuss story “Horton hears a Who,” LA Rams fans are rallying around their team in an effort to be heard loud and clear. This is an NFL city. They are here, and they want to win an NFL Championship Game as earnestly and passionately as any city in the US.
Even as the NFL headlines splashed the topic about the noise in SoFi Stadium being so loud, the Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford had to go to a silent count, we were not worried. When the Rams left the city, they lost the trust of fans. The only way to win back that trust was to win big games at home in SoFi Stadium. Well, that is what these LA Rams finally did.
When the LA Rams began the season, many interpreted the actions of the LA Rams organization as going “All In” now. Whether or not you feel that they did, one thing is clear. LA Rams fans are not holding back now. They are going all in support of this team. You see, the LA Rams fans are not going anywhere. The Super Bowl is coming to them, and they will have a chance to cheer their team on in the hopes of winning their first NFL Championship for the City of Los Angeles.
Two things that Los Angeles knows how to do: Throw Gala events, and throw a party. Thanks to the LA Rams, the city may get to do both on Super Bowl Sunday.
