Now that the LA Rams are Super Bowl LVI champions, the team can look toward what will happen in the future. Is this a one-and-done for the team that fought so hard to get here? Or does the future of the LA Rams hold something more? Could this be the birth of the next NFL dynasty?

With the retirement of Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady, and the futures of Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers, San Francisco 49ers’ QB Jimmy Garappolo, Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson, and Arizona Cardinals QB Kyler Murray in question, if not in complete doubt, the best teams of the NFC appear vulnerable. What about rebuilding teams?

Well, a weaker quarterback draft class is coming to the NFL in the 2022 NFL Draft. You could speculate that the road to an LA Rams dynasty has a strong possibility for the immediate future. Of course, the usual suspects of teams will challenge the Rams next year. But of the 31 other NFL teams, which team will be the most competitive opponent?

Getting the band back together

Right now, the Rams appear to be in pretty good shape. Not only has this team won it all, but a number of key players will return to health to rejoin the team in 2022. That is a good starting point, particularly since the organization is getting about a month’s delay in working towards the next season.

The offseason could see some significant roster changes on the team.  The Rams have 17 free agents, and they are already in a salary cap deficit for 2022.  Meanwhile, new NFL contenders will arise regardless of what the marquee quarterbacks do. Still, the Rams are in the position of having the best head coach-quarterback-wide receiver combination in the NFL.

The LA Rams have more than just the head coach-QB situation working for them, as a significant portion of the team will stay together. According to Spotrac, the Rams are roughly projected to be $10 million over the salary cap for the 2022 NFL season.
