LA Rams Free Agency lining up contracts for OL

Interpreting the LA Rams offensive line moves
The fact that the first moves out of the gates were to re-sign offensive linemen is pretty impressive in my opinion. By snagging three young and productive offensive linemen, the LA Rams front office has ensured that other young offensive linemen now see a light at the end of the tunnel for all of the thankless hours of sweating sun-drenched workouts on the practice field.
The Rams have just signed three players to contracts that will likely secure three starters for the Rams offensive line for at least the next two years. That is very important, because the team is working on a new contract extension for QB Matthew Stafford, and he is likely very interested in who the team plans to start on the offensive line for his protection.
Re-signing Allen makes sense
Allen is the offensive center who started for Stafford all season, except when unable to go due to injury. While we can cherry-pick plays where a defender got the best of Allen, or that wth-was-that offensive snap where the ball sailed over the head of Stafford to become a crucial turnover, how can you argue about a 12-5 regular season record which launched the team into a Super Bowl victory?
Allen may be a returning starter, but now his return has secured the Rams offensive line for at least the next two seasons. That will give the LA Rams time to draft players to develop so that at the end of 2023 there could be enough depth in place to ensure that the Rams will have a seamless changing of the guard.
Fantasy football owners may not appreciate these moves. Perhaps many fans are not thrilled by these moves. But the Rams front office is doing the right thing by getting their offensive line assembled first and foremost. With the LA Rams offensive line foundation finalized, the team can pivot to those flourishes that will reposition the team as one of the favorites to win Super Bowl LVII.
