No, he's not perfect. But Los Angeles Rams general manager Les Snead possesses two unique qualities that perfectly fit his responsibilities with the team. First and foremost, Snead has embodied the riverboat gambler, never backing down from any opportunity to improve the team.

Secondly, and perhaps just as importantly, he understands that he must be willing to explore all avenues of finding fits for the new team.

Snead is armed to the teeth with an impressive arsenal of draft picks. But before he gets to that point, he has an NFL free agency market to address. Unfortunately, NFL Insider Adam Schefter is already projecting slim pickings for both sources of fresh Rams roster talent. Schefter expects NFL trades to be numerous and furious this offseason.

And that happens to be right up Snead's wheelhouse.

The stars' alignment suggests Schefter may be onto something. Snead has plenty of draft assets to offer up for a game-changing veteran. And the GM has already established an all-in strategy with the return of MVP quarterback Matthew Stafford.

And Stafford will be back.

Adam Schefter's assessment green lights an LA Rams blockbuster trade

Like a riverboat gambler, the LA Rams general manager is counting cards. Rather, he understands the expected return on every roster move and is already strategizing to optimize the return. If the best value yielded to improve this roster is the trade market, Snead won't hold back.

And Schefter suggests the trade market will offer the best value.

While offseason strategies are only now starting to form, LA's front office has mastered identifying roster fits instantly. And with glaring needs on this team in the secondary, the list of trade targets to address the situation is certainly already formed.

But the Indianapolis Colts are a perfect example of a team that misfired in a blockbuster trade by adding an elite cornerback in Sauce Gardner, who already appears not to fit.

It's not making a trade just for the sake of trading. The goal for Snead is to improve the team. That doesn't happen automatically. And so, the likelihood of a successful trade is a huge longshot. Not only must both teams believe they are getting more value in the exchange, but Snead must be convinced that any acquired player will fit LA's culture.

Still, if anyone can do it, Les Snead can. And the stars are aligning for him to do exactly that.

As always, thanks for reading.
