What is Los Angeles Rams general manager Les Snead truly up to where the roster is concerned? It's always difficult to judge a cake that is still batter. And that is the conundrum facing faithful fans. Is Snead on track? Yes. Yes, he is. For proof, consider the recent return to the Rams ranks of energetic defensive lineman, Larrell Murchison.

No, he is not an All-Pro dominant defensive lineman. But no NFL team is signing All-Pro veterans right now. The beauty of Murchison's return is two-fold. For starters, he knows the Los Angeles defense, having contributed to the team since 2022. And on the other hand, he is the type of roster addition who adds instant value.

Over the course of his NFL career, Murchison has suited up for 432 defensive snaps. He's managed to accumulate 30 tackles, five tackles for a loss, 4.0 quarterback sacks, and five quarterback hits. But what will not show up on his stats sheet is the fact that he keeps his teammates fresh.

That's right, defensive linemen like Poona Ford, Braden Fiske, Kobie Turner and more have the opportunity to rest on the bench to remain strong through the entire game, and for the entire season. Best of all, Murchison is happy to do so.

Larrell Murchison embodies the Yellow and Blue defensive mindset

One of the aspects that is so intriguing about the LA Rams strategy so far is the commitment to many of 2025's defensive players. Sure, a squad that faded as the season wore on could be viewed by some disgruntled fans as one in need of wholesale changes.

But that would prove to be a mistake.

In just 126 defensive snaps in 2025, defensive tackle Larrell Murchison handled eight tackles, 2.0 quarterback sacks, and three quarterback hits. His minor role on defense tied him with five teammates with two sacks, good enough for seventh place. And that's not nothing.

Murchison brings an infectious positive attitude to a defensive front that has its work cut out for it in 2026. And it's never a bad idea to extend a defender who lined up alongside legendary defensive lineman Aaron Donald. And he continues to carry that same dedication and passion he learned from his early days in Horns.

Just ask him:

Let's not get swept up in hypotheticals and hyperbole. Rookie outside linebacker Josaiah Stewart transformed 374 defensive snaps into 3.0 quarterback sacks and 22 tackles in 2025, and fans are all very high on him.

And rightfully so.

Murchison needed only 126 defensive snaps to rack up eight tackles and two quarterback sacks last season. In a year of All-In strategy, it's quite reassuring to see that Snead is paying attention to the entire roster. This veteran defensive lineman brings extensive LA experience combined with a set-it-and-forget-it versatility.

Efficient. Effective. Excellence.

It's not always splash moves that get a team over the hump. Sometimes, it's an under-the-radar move like this. Welcome back, Murch.

As always, thanks for reading.
