The7-2 Los Angeles Rams must face another NFC West Division rival. This time, the opponent is the 7-2 Seattle Seahawks. And this time, this is not a team battling injuries and backups. The Seahawks are legitimate contenders this season. Now, how can Los Angeles emerge with a win?

The key is to get contributions from everyone on the field. In the eyes of Bleacher Report writer Kristopher Knox, that means that backup running back Blake Corum needs to break out and show up large from the backfield. And he may very well be onto something this year.

Corum was the 83rd overall player selected in the 2024 NFL Draft, and everything about his rookie profile screamed bell cow production. But he was seldom used in that rookie season, which raised some doubt about how successful he might be this season.

Still, he arrived in training camp determined to claim a larger role in the offense. So far at the mid-season point, that is exactly what he's done.

Running back Blake Corum is an unsung hero of Rams offense

In just nine games, Corum has already bested all of his rookie numbers. He has rushed for more yards, has rushed for more yards per carry, has scored more often, and has even been rushing for longer runs.

Best of all, for an offense begging for explosive plays, Corum has delivered on runs of 10+ yards 18 percent of the time, the best of any qualifying back this season.

Corum has started to settle into his change-of-pace role, averaging 13 carries and 57 yards per game after the Week 8 BYE. While he remains limited so far as a receiver, he is proving to be a solid substitute for feature running back Kyren Williams. And he pushes Williams along the way.

The duo has the offense on pace to rush for 2000+ yards this season. The last time that happened was in 2023.

Corum is more than a change-of-pace runner. The team is discovering that he offers a bit of off-road ruggedness as well. Think of him as the dirt bike equivalent of Kyren Williams as a Roadster. Both running backs have their roles, and both are necessary to keep the chains moving.

What does Knox have to say about Corum?

"Don't be surprised if he (Blake Corum) helps form the sort of two-back attack that can carry the Rams deep into the postseason. "
Kristopher Knox

Few Rams fans would be surprised in the least if that happens. As always, thanks for reading.
