Blake Corum just got the best endorsement a Rams running back could ask for

Los Angeles Rams fans already anticipate another step forward from third-year running back Blake Corum in 2026. Between his rookie and sophomore seasons he nearly quadrupled his production while ranking among the league's most explosive runners. If Corum continues to put in the work and the Rams give him a bit more leash, he'll be about as good an RB2 as there is behind the ever-dependable Kyren Williams.

It's not just fans who are excited. Corum got some love from a franchise fixture whose stamp of approval any Rams running back would envy. That would be one Todd Gurley, who commented on Corum's offseason workout video under his Instagram name tg4hunnid, "It's going to be spooky this season," alongside a pair of emojis to that tune:

No, that's not a paragraph-long endorsement speech, but for a young back entering his third season in the league, that's about as good as it gets coming from the man and the myth himself, that shooting star Todd Gurley.

Corum got stamp of approval from best Rams source

Blink and you missed Gurley's prime. Yet his two-year eclipse from 2017-18 was as dominant as enjoyed by any Rams back since Hall of Famer Marshall Faulk at the turn of the millennium.

That's no exaggeration. Both years, Gurley led the league in rushing touchdowns as well as in total rushing and receiving scores, of which he tallied 40 in that span. He led the NFL with 2,093 scrimmage yards in 2017, when he was named Offensive Player of the Year and came second in MVP voting. Gurley was a Pro Bowler and a First Team All-Pro in both seasons.

No one expects Corum to become the next TG; he isn't the dual threat Gurley was as both a rusher and receiver. But earning Gurley's approval isn't some participation award. With his blessing, it's all but impossible for Rams fans not to be giddy anticipating what Corum's third season may hold.

Efficient as he was across 145 carries in 2025, nothing suggests that he is not equipped to maintain similar production at higher volume. Facing robust Big Ten defenses at Michigan, Corum totaled over 500 carries, over 2,700 yards, and 45 rushing touchdowns from 2022-23. As a senior, he led the FBS with 27 TDs on the ground and 28 total.

For the Rams, balancing the workload between Corum and Williams could have the added benefit of keeping the latter fresh throughout the year after three straight seasons of at least 260 touches, including 295+ in each of the past two.

For that to work, of course, the less experienced Corum will have to carry his weight, proving capable of having his number called more often. If you ask Gurley, the young buck is more than ready.
