The Los Angeles Rams' incredible season reached its end at the hands of a division foe. Los Angeles made it back to the NFC Championship Game for the first time since 2021, when they won Super Bowl LVI. The Rams had to run through a gauntlet in the playoffs that featured a more-than-game Carolina Panthers and Chicago Bears.

To this point, quarterback Matthew Stafford had put on superhero performances in the fourth quarter. Now, they had to face the rival Seattle Seahawks for a spot in Super Bowl LX.

On Sunday, the Rams lost 31-27 to the Seahawks to officially end their season. The Rams nearly pulled it off, thanks to capitalizing on an NFL MVP performance by quarterback Matthew Stafford and the opponent's errors. But a late fourth-quarter red zone trip that resulted in zero points ultimately doomed them.

While the Rams lament a strong season ending short of their goals, wide receiver Davante Adams missed out on yet another chance to make the Super Bowl for the first time in his career. After this loss, the wide receiver is now 0-5 in Conference Championship Games in his NFL career.

After the game, Adam was asked in the locker room how he was feeling after falling short of a Super Bowl for a fifth time. Adams, who was "teary-eyed," according to ESPN's Kimberley A. Martin, said he's feeling "heartbreak."

It's hard to blame Adams for feeling emotional after the Rams' loss. This felt like his best shot to compete in the big game in quite some time. The Rams had Stafford, an incredible wide receiver to partner with in Puka Nacua, and a stout defense. But the Seahawks were simply the better team this season and in the NFC Championship Game.

Per ESPN Insights, Adams has the second-most losses in Conference Championship Game history without a win since the round was created in 1970. John Cappelletti has the most losses with six.

Here is Adams' full NFC Championship Game history.

Ironically, this is the second time that the Seahawks ended Adams' hopes of hoisting a Lombardi Trophy. There was the 2014 NFC Championship Game, where the Packers blew a 19-7 lead in the fourth quarter, went to overtime, and lost on a Russell Wilson touchdown pass to Jermaine Kearse.

In 2016 and 2019, Adams watched as the Atlanta Falcons and 49ers kick the Packers' doors in en route to the Super Bowl. The 2020 NFC Championship Game ended in controversy over a defensive pass interference penalty on Packers cornerback Kevin King, which sealed the Tampa Bay Buccaneers win.

Now, five years later, Adams watched another chance at a Super Bowl get pulled away from his grasp.

Adams signed with the Rams this offseason and had a strong chance of winning a Super Bowl title. This season, Adams had been a huge reason why the Rams offense succeeded, as his 14 touchdowns were the most in the entire NFL. Through 14 games, Adams caught 60-of-114 targets for 789 yards. In Los Angeles' two prior playoff games against Carolina and Chicago, Adams caught 7-of-19 targets for 96 yards.

In the NFC Championship Game on Sunday, Adams caught four-of-six targets from Stafford for 89 yards and a touchdown.

This loss will sting for quite some time for the Rams and Adams. All they can do is use it as motivation for next season to make it to Super Bowl 61, which will be at the Rams' home, SoFi Stadium.
