The LA Rams offense is struggling right now. Despite putting the most expensive offense in the NFL on the football field in 2024, scoring is not something the team does well. Well, at least, not so far. The Rams' offense struggled to not only score in this one, but to even move the football into the Las Vegas Raiders territory. It felt like the team was so afraid of doing something wrong, that the team failed to do anything right.

So it fell on the defense to set the stage to inch closer to just the second victory of the season.

The first turning point for the game came with 4:47 left on the game clock in the second quarter. New quarterback Garner Minshew tried to throw to the Las Vegas Raiders favorite target, rookie TE Brock Bowers. But DB Cobie Durant was playing possum, jumped the route, and picked off Minshew for the first turnover of the game by the Rams defense.

That set up the Rams offense with first down and 10 yards to go on the Raiders 47- yard line. It only took the offense four plays and 1:47 to drive the ball into the endzone, capped off by a thundering 13-yard touchdown scamper by Rams RB Kyren Williams.

That extends Williams's touchdown-scoring streak to nine consecutive games. And that is the longest active scoring streak in the NFL today, as per CBS play-by-play commentator Kevin Harlan.

But Cobie Durant was not done yet. On the next offensive series by the Raiders, Durant had a strip sack on Raiders QB Garner Minshew. His teammate, Kamren Kurl, picked up the loose football and raced in for the touchdown.

Of the 108 points scored by this team, 14 points has already been scored by the defense. That means that their offense has only been averaging 15.7 points per game, which by comparison comes in as the 30th-ranked offense.

Thank goodness for Kyren Williams.

Perhaps this offense needs to win ugly. Perhaps the defense carrying the team to a win will force the offense to rethink their mission. I don't know if fans can count on this defense to dominate an opponent in similar fashion in the future.

But if this team wins, there are three game balls that need to be handed out. And they go to:

  • RB Kyren Williams
  • DB Kamren Curl
  • DB Cobie Durant (X 2)

Hopefully, we can get some more names on the list in the second half.

Halftime score

  • Las Vegas Raiders 6
  • Los Angeles Rams 14

As always, thanks for reading.
