The Los Angeles Rams are nearing training camp, and the NFL rumors that surround the team have not subsided. If anything, NFL rumors that have linked the Rams to a trade with the Miami Dolphins for defensive back Jalen Ramsey have persisted, if not intensified. ESPN NFL Insider, Adam Schefter, poured gasoline on the NFL rumors by declaring that Jalen Ramsey would likely be traded before the start of NFL training camp. He also made it a point to add that Ramsey wants to return to Los Angeles, California.
Only two NFL teams call Los Angeles home: The Los Angeles Chargers and the Los Angeles Rams.
Of course, that was shocking news. Multiple NFL teams have expressed interest in trading for Jalen Ramsey. Those who have not openly stated interest have been suspected of seeking a veteran defensive back. And yet, we find ourselves after the Summer Solstice, and Ramsey remains on the Miami Dolphins roster.
Have you had enough? I hope not, because today NFL Insider Ian Rapoport asserts that he still believes that the Miami Dolphins will trade Jalen Ramsey. Which NFL team is the most likely landing spot?
"The Rams make the most sense to me."Ian Rapoport
And with that simple statement, two of the most trusted NFL Insiders who have a remarkable track record of reporting what will happen before it does, have both thrown their reputations behind the NFL rumors linking Jalen Ramsey to the Rams.
"I still expect the Dolphins to trade Jalen Ramsey..

I don't see him getting traded to the Steelers..

Even as veteran defensive back Jalen Ramsey has likely receded from his prime, he remains an upgrade over any other defensive back on the Rams roster. This team may have several veterans from Super Bowl LVI on the offense, but only ILB Troy Reeder and Darious Williams are on the roster from that NFL Championship defense.
Jalen Ramsey would be the third, and the most accomplished.
The Rams have firsthand experience right now of the direct and indirect benefits of veterans mixing it up with younger players, teaching and mentoring them. I'm not suggesting that the Rams have no chance of success without Ramsey. But as even BINGO players know, the more cards you play, the better your chances of winning. And Jalen Ramsey is another card to play.
But he is still playing at a level that other defensive backs have yet to match. He impacts offenses just by stepping onto the football field. Lesser quarterbacks have learned to throw elsewhere. More accomplished quarterbacks look twice before throwing his way, giving the Rams' pass rush a greater opportunity to tackle him to the ground.
Ramsey is not a savior to this young Rams defense. But he is a versatile player whose skills are still robust enough to benefit the defense in many ways. Should the Rams trade for Jalen Ramsey? Yes. Will the Rams trade for Jalen Ramsey? It seems more likely.
The Rams are very much in the hunt for a victory in Super Bowl LX. And if NFL Insiders are correct, the team is closing in on adding one more player to help them do so.
As always, thanks for reading.
