The 11-5 Los Angeles Rams host the 3-13 Arizona Cardinals in the final game of 2025. And for all intents and purposes, this is the final game for a hugely disappointing Cardinals team that is almost certainly going to seek a new head coach for 2026. But it is the last opportunity in the regular season for wide receiver Davante Adams to find the end zone.
And that is not nothing.
Adams may not have played 17 games for Los Angeles. And he failed to put up 1000+ receiving yards in this offense. He has been a hugely successful addition to this roster all the same. In 14 games played, he has scored 14 touchdowns. And he only scored three times in his first six games.
The problem is that he has been fighting through a nagging hamstring injury this season. While he had managed to take the football field despite the injury in the past, he aggravated the injury in Week 15 for all to see. After that injury, NFL analysts asserted that he would be shut down for the remainder of the regular season.
Per the Rams official injury report, Davante Adams is listed as questionable. He could play. But will he?
Is Rams top touchdown producing WR, Davante Adams, playing today?
While head coach Sean McVay vowed to play his starters in Week 18, he further clarified that he would play his healthy starters. That unexpected limitation opens the door to sitting practically everyone, as all NFL players are nursing bumps and bruises at this point in the season.
Adams is not healthy. He has fought through his hamstring injury for many weeks. So, why would the team wish to risk further injury? LA is a wild card team, and Adams has already established impressive chemistry with starting quarterback Matthew Stafford. So there is no need to work out any bugs or wrinkles in their on-field play.
Adams can play, but he most likely will not. Win or lose, the LA Rams are travelling in the Wild Card Round of the NFL Playoffs. And the team may face one of three opponents in the postseason. Fans would love to see Adams work his red zone wizardry in Week 18. Unfortunately, it appears more likely that it won't happen until the playoffs.
As always, thanks for reading.
