It may seem rather whimsical for the 9-2 Los Angeles Rams to spend any time pondering over the 2026 NFL Draft, but the season is on its final legs, and the team has plenty of picks to spend. Curiously, the team's 2025 NFL Draft results have been subdued so far, with many rookies filling in as depth players. So will the team double down or add reinforcements elsewhere?

There are plenty of picks to spend in the upcoming draft. But affluence is not the same as effectiveness. Many NFL teams have squandered the riches of draft picks because there was no plan in place. Raw talent is simply not enough to cut it in the NFL. Like assembling a jigsaw puzzle, the right pieces must be fitted into the right roles.

Who are the right pieces? Based on the current financial obligations, it's a safe bet to anticipate the team spending more on defense and less on offense next season. Why? Well, the team needs to pivot to an infusion of youth into the offense, while the defense is still running on rookie contracts (for the most part).

Rams 3-round mock draft is an offensive mother lode

Round 1

Arizona State wide receiver Jordyn Tyson

The consensus best wide receiver up for grabs in the 2026 NFL Draft is Arizona State rookie wide receiver prospect Jordyn Tyson. Now, let your imagination run wild with a top receiver in Sean McVay's offense. Seems too good to be true, doesn't it?

This 6-foot-2, 200-pound rookie a perfect padawan for veteran Davante Adams. Already possessing superb separation skills, he merely needs NFL refinement to unleash his elite potential. He is well served by a basketball background, which sounds very similar to Puka Nacua's secret to NFL success.

Clemson offensive tackle Blake Miller

Rookie offensive tackle Blake Miller is a rising star. Standing 6-foot-6 and weighing 320 pounds. He is becoming a newcomer to Day 1 projections, but not without good reason. Many sites are stuck in 2024 draft grades, but he is a starting right tackle whose performance has opened some eyes among NFL draft analysts.

Miller has all the prerequisite size and power necessary to flourish in the NFL. But he comes with solid hand and footwork as well.

Day 2

Cincinnati quarterback Brendan Sorsby

Los Angeles may not need a plug-and-play quarterback, but the team needs to invest in competition for veteran Stetson Bennett, and Cincinnati quarterback Brendan Sorsby brings the stuff that competition needs to flourish. Standing 6-foot-3 and weighing 235 pounds, Sorsby is a burly hurler who can run and pass an offense to success.

He made the jump from Indiana to Cincinnati and has shown solid growth and development along the way. Best of all, he can scramble for a first down, while not risking excessive injuries. He is not a finished product; rather, he arrives with a huge ceiling and would benefit tremendously from working behind and with veteran quarterback Matthew Stafford.

Penn State cornerback A.J. Harris

With the secondary facing the loss of multiple defensive backs to free agency and the unlikelihood of re-signing them all, the front office will need to commit some draft picks to rookie cornerbacks and safeties. Penn State 6-foot-1, 191-pound cornerback A.J. Harris fits the mold perfectly, as he is the right size and attitude to suit this secondary.

While not exactly a ball hawker, he has superb length to frustrate opposing quarterbacks and receivers alike. And his NCAA football book of business is loaded with defending future NFL players.

LA doesn't draft the highest-regarded prospects. This team selects the best-suited players. In the 2026 NFL Draft, the team will seek offensive playmakers, and Jordyn Tyson leads a rookie class that will deliver exactly that.

As always, thanks for reading.
