The Los Angeles Rams have two things going for them in the 2026 NFL Draft. For 2026, the team is quite satisfied with their two starting offensive tackles: Alaric Jackson and Warren McClendon Jr. Secondly, the 13th overall pick is viewed by a growing number of NFL draft analysts as the start of a run on rookie offensive tackle prospects.
In NFL insider Peter Schrager's final mock draft, he projects LA trading back with the Detroit Lions, from 13th to 18th, and picking up a fourth-round as well as a 2027 NFL draft second-round pick in the process. Now, NFL draft analyst Justin Melo reiterates a similar trade-back scenario. Something is afoot.
FINE, one more. #NFLDraft

My *final* 2026 NFL Mock Draft. Two trades in the top 10!https://t.co/ze68M7WAf9
The trigger for both draft scenarios appears to be the Detroit Lions need for a plug-and-play offensive tackle, and the presence of outstanding Alabama offensive tackle Kadyn Proctor on the board at the 13th overall selection. As many NFL teams are expected to hold interest in drafting Proctor, a consensus is forming around the Lions trading up to choose him
Rams trading back loses chance to draft Makai Lemon
While the Lions secure their top choice for offensive tackle by selecting Kadyn Proctor, dropping back to the 18th overall pick forces LA to forfeit a chance to select USC wide receiver Makai Lemon. Justin Melo projects the New York Jets selecting him with the 16th overall pick.
But fear not. Melo has a superb backup option for general manager Les Snead. After all, he hinted that Les Snead has been secretly eyeing up Texas A&M wide receiver KC Concepcion. Now he backs up those rumors by projecting the wideout to LA in Round 1.
Too far-fetched for your liking? Well, consider this. Concepcion is one of the most passionate and confident rookie wide receiver prospects in this draft. Les Snead loves both traits in his rookie selections.
Even as fans align with one rookie prospect over another, Snead is more objective in his preferences. It's almost guaranteed that he has a group of various players, including multiple wide receivers, who could fit LA in Round 1. And while Makai Lemon is reportedly included in those fits, Concepcion may be as well.
For now, fans have plenty to digest in the hours leading up to the draft. Perhaps that's all part of the fun. After all, hitting on a mock draft for Round 1 of the NFL draft is about as likely as hitting a perfect March Madness bracket.
But that hasn't stopped anyone from trying. As always, thanks so much for reading.
