The Los Angeles Rams may not have been able to offer future Hall of Fame wide receiver Davante Adams the chance to play alongside Aaron Rodgers, but they did give the native son of California the opportunity to chase a championship and put 2024 behind him.

Adams has been in some brutal locker rooms in the last few years, as the Josh McDaniels-led Las Vegas Raiders and a New York Jets team that could have a documentary based around that particular team's ineptitude are certainly not what Adams wanted to go through at this stage of his career.

Even the simple act of getting his famous No. 17 jersey was a headache. Adams, who needed to buy that number of rookie Jets wide receiver Malachi Corley, suggested giving the rookie with an inflated sense of his abilities $17,000 as compensation. Corley's retort in negotiation was that he wanted a staggering $1 million.

While the two eventually met closer to Adams' number, forcing Corley to switch to No. 14, incidents like that show that Adams would not have been able to realize his dream of slipping a ring on his finger in New York. He should be thankful the Rams came calling.

Adams and Garrett Wilson could have made for quite the dynamic duo, but with Justin Fields at the sticks, the passing upside would be limited. With the Pittsburgh Steelers having handed DK Metcalf a boatload of money to be Rodgers' top receiver in his new digs, Adams' chances of another linkup were ruined.

While Adams will likely head into the season as the No. 2 wide receiver behind Puka Nacua, Sean McVay has been very good historically when it comes to making sure multiple productive wide receiver targets get the target share they need. Matthew Stafford at the sticks should be a big help as well.

If one extrapolates Adams' 11 games with the Jets (in which he lost targets to Wilson) out to a full 17-game season, the numbers show he was on pace for 103 catches, 1,300 yards, and 13 touchdowns. Even as he gets a little long in the tooth, Adams can still get it done.

The Jets already cut Corley, who did himself no favors with his poor work ethic and route running, and he has since landed on the Cleveland Browns' practice squad. Adams, meanwhile, is yet again chasing a championship.
