Latest intel on Matthew Stafford proves he was never going anywhere

Stafford was always going to stay a Ram, or at least it appears that way now.

Breathe easy, Los Angeles Rams fans -- Matthew Stafford is staying put. It wasn't for lack of trying for the other teams though and the latest truth bomb from Rich Eisen really showed how desperate some teams were to try to land Stafford in the offseason.

According to Eisen on his show, The Rich Eisen Show, the New York Giants went above and beyond what the Rams were expecting of teams, offering Stafford more money than what he ended up getting from his current team.

"I heard the Giants and Raiders' interest in Matthew Stafford was quite real, and it was hairy at certain junctures last week, and I heard the Giants hit the number... and they hit the trade comp, too. They were in," Eisen said. "The Giants even hired [Stafford's] brother in law, Chad Hall, on the coaching staff.... they really made a run."

Rich Eisen says the Giants offered Matthew Stafford more money than the Rams

Eisen finished that segment by noting that he believes, at the end of the day, Stafford realized the Rams gave him the best chance to win another Super Bowl. And isn't that what these quarterbacks want when it's all said and done?

Sure, the money is nice, but for a guy like Stafford who doesn't have a ton of years left in his playing career, why not stick with the team that gives you the best chance to add another ring to the resume? The Rams made the playoffs last year despite a slow start and came close to knocking off the Eagles in the divisional round. They were very much a team that no one wanted to play at that point and Stafford was a big reason for that.

Rams fans are thrilled that Stafford is returning because, as Eisen said, this is his best chance to win another Super Bowl and as long as he's playing at the level he has been, this team is very much in contention to be the Super Bowl 60 champions this time next year.
