Latest NFL rumors already looking like Rams Les Snead is a genius (again)

Rams Les Snead steered clear of Eagles WR AJ Brown. As the Patriots and Eagles appear to be stuck in the mud, Snead shines like a genius once more.

Evidence continues to mount that the Los Angeles Rams were geniuses for walking away from NFL rumors suggesting they had engaged in trade talks to acquire Philadelphia Eagles' disgruntled veteran wide receiver AJ Brown.

Imagine the frustration of the New England Patriots, a team that is extremely interested in trading for Eagles WR Brown. Brown is openly asking to be traded and would love nothing better than to land on a new team. But Eagles general manager Howie Roseman is standing firm on his asking price of a first-round pick for Brown.

Stalemate.

Roseman already restocked Philly's roster with wide receiver talent, eliminating any need for Brown's contribution in 2026. In fact, he may have done such an incredible job that he has painted his team into a corner. Brown no longer has a role in the offense. And the longer any potential trade has to wait, his skills and value diminish over time due to mental and physical atrophy.

Benched AJ Brown is virtually worthless to Eagles in 2026

Howie Roseman is flirtin' with disaster. He has undermined his own trade leverage where AJ Brown is concerned. In essence, in the quest to insulate the Philadelphia Eagles roster from losing Brown after June 1st, he has given potential trade partners an advantage.

With 12 receivers on the roster, competing for training camp reps is a scarce commodity on Philly's roster. If the Eagles divert snaps to younger receivers, Brown will see what's happening and completely shut down. But if Philly sticks with the belief that Brown is on the team until he's not, valuable reps that could aid rookies end up with Brown.

At some point in time, keeping Brown will be counterproductive. That's what the New England Patriots, or any potential trade partner, is waiting for.

Brown wants to play because he knows that big paychecks are reserved for NFL stars. And he wants a big payday. LA already has plenty of mouths to feed, and Brown is simply not a more valuable player than Puka Nacua, Byron Long, or Kobie Turner.

Los Angeles has cashed in its chips for the 2026 season, and AJ Brown is not part of the strategy for success this season. For now, that decision makes Les Snead appear to be a genius, again.

As always, thanks for reading.
