Now that the Los Angeles Rams have made most of their moves to restock the roster for the 2026 NFL season, a new question is filling the heads of fans. After all, knowing who will don Sol Yellow and Royal Blue is only valuable when fans know when the team will compete. And that information will be released on May 14, 2026.
As is the case for every season, the NFL commits to known opponents as soon as the previous season ends. That is possible to a simple but layered algorithm that pits teams against divisional rivals twice, teams from two alternating NFL divisions once, and finally rounds out the schedule with teams who finished in a similar spot in their divisions. It's simpler than it sounds.
In 2026, LA faces NFC West division teams twice, NFC East and AFC West division teams once, and then rounds out the roster by facing other second-place teams. Since Los Angeles is located in California, and a majority of NFL teams are home east of the Mississippi River, traveling is frequntly among the most of any team. But LA opens the season by traveling to Melbourne, Australia, which makes this season incredibly difficult.
And 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan is not happy about it.

Road opponents include: San Francisco 49ers, Seattle Seahawks, Arizona Cardinals, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Washington Commanders, Philadelphia Eagles, Las Vegas Raiders, and Denver Broncos. The team travels to the East Coast three times, which is a lot of miles. So it will come down to when those long distances fgall on the calendar.
Home opponents include: Seattle Seahawks, Arizona Cardinals, Green Bay Packers, New York Giants, Dallas Cowboys, Buffalo Bills, Los Angeles Chargers, and Kansas City Chiefs. One home game this season will not be played at SoFi Stadium, as the Rams will host the 49ers in Melbourne, Australia. There are not a lot of frequent flyer miles saved, as the team only hosts two East Coast teams.

Week 12 - November 25, 2026 | Green Bay Packers at Los Angeles Rams | Netflix
Wow. It's impossible to say how this one will work out. But it will certainly be a short week if the Green Bay Packers travel to face LA on November 25, 2026. If LA wins, that game will afford the team a huge mini-bye at an ideal time in the season. But if it's a loss, it couldn't happen at a worse time or to a worse opponent.
Los Angeles Rams Schedule leaks
Week 1- 49ers vs Rams in Melbourne Australia.
First impressions are lasting impressions. That's why the NFL opted to schedule the 49ers' visit to the Rams as a history-making first game ever played in Melbourne, Australia. It's that type of NFL headliner that could headline the nation, that is expected to captivate Gridiron fans internationally.
And it pits two of the most successful teams from 2025 in heated competition right out of the gate. Sure, it's only one game. But the winner of this one gets an instant leg up on the division in what could prove to be the difference-maker when it comes down to deciphering the standings.
Week 12 - Packers vs Rams in SoFi Stadium
It looks like the Packers at Rams for Thanksgiving Eve has been confirmed by the official team social media account. In fact, it appears that this could be an annual event, as it claims this will be a 'new tradition.' Tradition implies that the team will schedule a game on Thanksgiving Eve each year. Hemmm.
